To Volunteer

The Apple Tree Foundation for Woodland Youth is totally a volunteer effort and is likely to continue to be solely a volunteer effort for many years to come. With more volunteers the Foundation will be able to raise more funds to provide more support for students and teachers of Woodland’s public schools.

How can you help? There are many ways, some yet to be defined. We need board members who are involved with other aspects of our community and can help spread the message of our mission, needs and activities. We need volunteers to help organize, set up and manage Fundraising events--and yes, cleanup afterwards.

We need volunteers to staff informational booths at many school and community events, such as Back-to-School nights, Open Houses, the Stroll Through History, Chili Cookoff and Woodland Christmas Parade. In 2003 the Foundation had an entry--not exactly a float--in the Christmas Parade.

We need representatives to meet with school staffs, PTAs and church and community groups to inform them about the Foundation and what it currently is doing and what it potentially can be.

We need volunteers to gather information and write it up in support of applications for a variety of grants that are available. Some are from corporate-related foundations, such as Target, Starbucks and Wells Fargo. Others are independent with specialized interests in assisting specific areas of the curriculum such as the arts, aviation, specific areas of science or agriculture.

We also need help in identifying potential granting sources and determining the potential and relevance of an application we might submit.

If any of these ways of volunteering to help the students and teachers in Woodland’s public schools is for you, please contact any board member, all of whom are volunteers, too.
